Field Service Technician – Positions across UK & Ireland – please state what area you reside in on your application.
Objective of role:
To work as part of a Regional Service team to provide our customers with an excellent level of service which is technically competent and helps our customers to effectively maintain the performance of their test, measurement, and specialist equipment.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
In line with our ‘model visit’ effectively represent the Avery Weigh-Tronix brand in terms of appearance, conduct and communication.
To use and apply a multi-skilled technical competence to prevent equipment breakdown across all types of measurement and specialist products and where breakdown occurs minimise the impact upon customer operations.
To provide effective and technically competent breakdown and preventative maintenance services to test, measurement and specialist products and systems at a variety of sites.
To install calibrate and test, measurement and specialist products and systems at customer premises. (This will require the ability to frequently handle individual weights of up to 10kg)
To perform trade approval verification of weighing products.
To identify and communicate to our customers, solutions to problems they encounter with the performance of their test, measurement, and specialist equipment. Such solutions to include, but not be limited to, new product sales, repairs, alternative solutions as per proposition coverage levels, new software and/or hire solutions.
To identify changes to individual customer contracts in terms of equipment covered, customer contact information and site requirements. Ensuring that such changes are authorised by the customer and that the company’s electronic and paper systems are updated accordingly.
To ensure that any customer reports are completed professionally and clearly articulate the outcome and recommendations of any visit, in line with policy, procedures and trading standards.
To maintain accurate records (which may be paper-based or electronic) at all times so that the Business may determine contract profitability and engineer productivity.
To be responsible for the accurate management of spare parts stock to ensure a high level of first time fix.
To accurately administer Chargeable repairs in-line with Business requirements.
To accurately operate the field service operation system in accordance with Company policy operating the system in ‘real-time’ unless limited by connection or safety.
To ensure that all stock, company equipment, including vehicle, and tools are kept clean safe and secure and maintained to high standard.
To maximise the time spent on productive work either traveling to or working on customer sites driving high productivity levels.
To attend and pass all training courses (Technical / Health and Safety / Business Processes) necessary to develop and maintain competence and work safely when undertaking the role.
To ensure accurate and timely administrative care is taken when completing time sheets, overtime records, customer quotations and other admin required by the business.
Be available to undertake work outside normal business hours to support customer needs in-line with the requirements of the Business.
To participate in an out of hours breakdown cover rota.
To be computer literate with a Windows PC / File handling / Microsoft Office / Outlook / Word / Excel.
To observe and comply with all Company policies including but not limited to Health, Safety & Environmental, Company Vehicle, Principles of Conduct, Anti-bribery & Ethics, IT Users Policy, Duty of Confidence and all other policies and appendices in operation by the company.
To comply with the Company’s Expense Policy and submit expenses to your manager for approval in a timely manner as required.
Any other duties deemed appropriate within the scope of the role and in-line with skills and experience.
Person Specification – Background Experience Basic Qualifications and/or Experience required:
5 GCSE qualifications at grades A-C, or equivalent
This is a field-based role, while the individual is part of a team they will normally be working alone in customer sites in the region and will be carried out through customer visits for 5 days a week. Standby Rota coverage will be expected at this level of role.
