The code of practice was put forward as a change to the Environmental Permitting Regulations (England and Wales) in March this year and is due to come into force in autumn 2014. Experts in providing solutions for the Waste and Recycling industry, weighing company Avery Weigh-Tronix is keen to ensure that customers understand the implications for their businesses.
David Wyatt, National Sales Manager for Avery Weigh-Tronix, commented, “Although amendments to the Regulations were made in March 2014, the requirements of the MRF Code of Practice will not come into force for another 6 months. This gives MRF operators time to make preparations for future compliance.”
David continued, “The regulations state that MRF operators must measure the total weight of any mixed waste material received at a facility, then take samples of material coming out of the facility and measure the composition of those samples. With weighing data at the heart of the process, we are keen to work with MRF operators to ensure that their equipment complies with the reporting requirements laid out in the code of practice.”
With compliance in mind, Avery Weigh-Tronix are offering MRF operators a free audit of their weighing requirements. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
