Grading

Weighing equipment and solutions for grading applications

Overview

In meat deconstruction and grading applications, reducing waste and ensuring correct product labelling are both important considerations. Using a checkweigher combined with grading software can help operators to quickly sort cuts of meat into required weight bands, or measure offcuts by weight, improving quality, reducing errors and ensuring fast and accurate throughput.

The ZQ375 checkweigher has been designed for the food industry and can be configured to work in grading mode with up to 10 different weight grading bands, enabling fast and efficient weighing and grading on a meat processing line.

Checkweighers can significantly reduce product giveaway by ensuring that each item is weighed, labelled, packaged and priced accurately. By providing a simple visual indication to the operator, the grading programme can reduce variability and ensure that the items being weighed are consistently within the desired weight range.

With a 1 million division displayed resolution, and a fast return to zero, the checkweigher offers fast and accurate weighing. The banding programme also makes it simple and quick to determine the right weight band for the meat, increasing throughput by speeding up the process versus more manual methods.

The ZQ checkweigher range has been specifically designed for the food industry, making it ideal for meat processing. These high resolution checkweighers are NSF ANSI 3A approved fully stainless-steel, and IP69K rated, making them suitable for heavy washdown. The design also minimises food trap areas, making it ideal for use on any busy meat-cutting floor, food processing line, or quality inspection station.

Using very clear visual grading bands makes the checkweigher easy to operate and less susceptible to operator error. Training time is reduced, and temporary labour, or those with language barriers, can use this equipment with little to no training. This combination of simple operation and visual weight indicators makes it easier for operators fulfilling repetitive weighing operations.

As well as enabling fast weighing and grading, the scale and software can also be set up to capture data and transfer it to back office systems. This enables facilities to capture grading weights for quality assurance, traceability and auditing purposes. The scale can also help to identify trends and deviations, helping managers to identify potential problems and training needs.
