ITW business model
At Avery Weigh-Tronix, we apply the ITW Business Model as a framework to our business strategy which enables us to grow into new markets, develop market-leading products and reach our full potential. Using the business model gives us and other ITW divisions a distinct competitive advantage and is intellectual property of ITW.
The business model is based around 3 core principles:
ITW’s 80/20 Front-to-Back Process: ITW’s proven methodology that optimizes business operations by focusing on key customers, enhancing performance, and reducing business complexity.
Customer-Back Innovation: ITW businesses focus on solving challenges directly with key customers by collaborating closely, to enhance business performance and drive innovation. As a result, ITW currently has a robust portfolio of approximately 19,600 granted and pending patents (2024), a large number of which belong to Avery Weigh-Tronix.
A decentralized approach: ITW culture empowers our employees to think like owners. Using the ITW business model and core values, our team has the flexibility to make decisions that best serve our customers. This approach drives accountability, relevance, and delivers impactful results across our business.

Diversity and Inclusion
As a business diversity and inclusion is a top focus for us, and we are constantly striving towards a diverse and inclusive working environment. We feel a diverse team provides us with the best opportunities to grow, it fosters innovation, enhances our decision-making, and is a strong reflection of our customers’ views and values around the world.
By embracing varied perspectives and backgrounds, Avery Weigh-Tronix aims to create an inclusive working environment that drives creativity, attracts top talent, and builds a more resilient workforce. We want to ensure that everyone feels valued for the important part they play at Avery Weigh-Tronix regardless of background.
In our efforts to continue driving diversity and inclusion, we have created our own Employee Engagement and Inclusion Committee. This is formed by a diverse mix of employees, representing all departments. The team meet monthly to raise key issues and topics within the business. The Committee also helps to celebrate and raise awareness of key diversity dates throughout the year.

Employee Resource Groups
ITW have a range of Employee Resource Groups (ERG), which are employee-led and are set up globally and split into regional chapters where employees can network with peers from different ITW organizations and discuss topics that are important to them. Meetings are held in-person and virtually throughout the year. Employees are encouraged to raise topics they would like to learn more about.
Being part of an employee resource group allows you to grow your own professional network by meeting other ITW employees from different ITW companies that perhaps you would not get to meet in your normal day-to-day role. From a North and South America perspective we have the following ERGs to join:
- IWN – ITW Women’s Network
- YPN – Young Professional Network
- MCN – Multi-Cultural Network
- Pride at ITW
- Latino and Hispanic Network
- ITW Veterans and Allies Alliance
Here at Avery Weigh-Tronix, we actively encourage all our employees to join as many employee resource groups as possible. We also allow are employee to have time away from the business to attend the ERG meetings.
